This Privacy Policy sets out how Alimento uses and protects any information that you give Alimento when you use this website. We are committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this Privacy Policy. We may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page periodically to ensure that you are happy with any changes.

Alimento collects the following data:

  • Information that you provide to us such as your name, address, date of birth, telephone number, email address and any feedback you give to us, including by phone, email, post, or when you communicate with us via social media or the Alimento community;
  • Information about the products and services that we provide to you (including for example, the things we have provided to you, when and where, what you paid, and the way you use our products and services);
  • Information you give to us when you enter a competition or promotion on Alimento;
  • Information you provide to us when you complete a survey, quiz, questionnaire or review submission;
  • Your account login details for our services, including your user name and chosen password;
  • Information about when you sign up to receive any of our newsletters or marketing communications and whether or not you want to receive any associated marketing communications from us;
  • Information you provide to us when purchasing any product or service from us.
  • Information you provide us when you communicate with us via all channels and methods e.g. via email, telephone, SMS, letter and live chat;
  • Information about any device you have used to access our services (such as your device’s make and model, browser or IP address) and also how you use our services. For example, we try to identify which website pages you use of the site and when and how you use them;
  • Your contact details and details of the emails and other electronic communications you receive from us, including whether that communication has been opened and if you have clicked on any links within that communication. We want to make sure that our communications are useful for you, so if you don’t open them or don’t click on any links in them, we know we need to improve our services.
  • Special categories of personal data provided by you - We will also collect health information you voluntarily provide to us when you interact with us, for example in relation to food allergies you may have. Further, we may collect health related data of customers that claim damages via our customer helpline. We will only use health data you voluntarily provide to us and such only with your prior consent or under your direction to do so and only for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy.   1. How do we collect your data?

You directly provide Alimento with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you:

  • Register online or place an order for any of our products or services.
  • Voluntarily complete a customer survey or provide feedback on any of our message boards or via email, or on social media or the Alimento community.
  • Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies.

 

  1. How will we use your data?

Alimento collects your data so that we can:

  • Process your order and manage your account.
  • Email you with special offers on other products and services we think you might like.
  • Analytics and profiling - we use your personal information for statistical analysis and to help us understand more about our customers. That includes understanding the products and services you buy, the manner in which you consume them, how you shop across Alimento and by creating profiles about you. This helps us to serve you better and to find ways to improve our services, stores, apps and websites. These profiles help us to send you offers that are more relevant to you.

Alimento does not use automated decision-making technology in conjunction with your personal data.

We collect and use your personal data for the purposes below. Please know that insofar as we already hold information about you, we may use that information for the same purposes.

  • For the performance of our agreement with you: In order to carry out our obligations arising from any contract entered into between you and us and to provide you with the products and services that you request, including handling your requests, inquiries or complaints. In order to develop and manage a contest, competition or promotion which you may have entered, to conduct the promotion and contact you if you win. Where you order products, we process your personal data in order to manage and handle your purchases.
  • For our legitimate commercial interests*: We may use your personal data (both on an aggregated and on an individual basis), such as your contact details, your account and electronic identification data, for the purpose of advertising our products and services and making contact with you for marketing or other commercial purposes if you are an existing customer. We may also use your personal data for analysing and improving the quality of our products and services, as well as to understand you as a customer and to give you a better user experience. This enables us to create personal profiles and to assess what may interest you, to measure or understand the effectiveness of advertising we serve to you and others and to deliver relevant advertising.
  • We may also use your personal data, for other legitimate commercial interests such as to generate aggregated statistics about the users of our products and services, to assist in security and fraud prevention, to administer our website and for internal operations (including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes), for system integrity purposes (for example the prevention of hacking, spamming etc.), to allow you to participate in interactive features of our services, to facilitate our business operations, to operate company policies and procedures, to enable us to make corporate transactions such as any merger, sale, divesture, reorganisation, transfer of assets or businesses, acquisition, bankruptcy or similar event, or for other legitimate business purposes permitted by any applicable law.
  • Use of information based on your consent: We may use any special categories of personal data provided by you (in particular, health data) for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy but we will only do so after we have received your consent thereto.
    We may use your personal data for marketing communications (based on your profiles) via email, SMS or other electronic means but we will only do so after we have received your consent to do so.

  • To comply with our legal obligations:Any information we collect may also be used to maintain appropriate business records, to comply with lawful requests by public authorities and to comply with applicable laws and regulations or as otherwise required by law.

*Healthcare professionals may be enrolled to receive marketing communications deemed to be of legitimate interest. This includes updates about our products and services. Healthcare professionals can always opt out by using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email communication or by contacting us directly.

  1. How do we store your data?

Session recording is provided by Hotjar Ltd. Hotjar Ltd stores information inside an Amazon VPC, Virtual Private Cloud. The database containing visitor and usage data is only accessible from the application servers and no outside sources are allowed to connect to the database on secure servers. All data Hotjar collects is stored electronically  in Ireland on the Amazon Web Services infrastructure. All data Shopify collects is stored electronically primarily in Canada and the United States of America. Our consumer helpline is based in  Bulgaria and the UK. Alimento website servers are situated in Canada and the United States of America

Alimento will retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting or reporting requirements.

To determine the appropriate retention period, we consider the amount, nature and sensitivity of the data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, as well as the applicable legal requirements.

For example, we have to keep basic information about our customers (including contact information and financial data) for seven years after they cease being customers.

In some circumstances we may anonymise your personal data (so that it can no longer be associated with you) for research or statistical purposes in which case we may use this information indefinitely without further notice to you.

We will take reasonable steps to ensure that your personal data is properly secured using appropriate technical, physical and organisational measures so that they are protected against unauthorised or unlawful use, alteration, unauthorised access or disclosure, accidental or wrongful destruction and loss.

We take steps to limit access to your personal data to those persons who need to have access to it for one of the purposes listed in this Privacy Policy. Furthermore, we contractually ensure that any third party processing your personal data equally provides for confidentiality and integrity of your data.

 

  1. Marketing Communications

When you sign up to receive marketing communications or newsletters, we will only use the information you provide to send you information about products, services, promotions of ours that we think you might like.

You are offered the option to ‘opt in’ to receiving these marketing communications when you complete the checkout journey on Alimento, you do not have to opt in to receive our products and services.

  1. Sharing your personal information

We will share your personal information with recipients who expressly have the need to know it in order to perform their responsibilities when dealing with and completing your requests or orders. These include but are not limited to:

  • Delivery Partners - Alimento trusted partners undertaking the delivery of orders to your home or nominated address. Our main delivery partner is DHL, with whom we will share data in order to deliver and track your order.   • Service Partners - Alimento have a number of approved and trusted service partners that undertake work on our behalf, we may share your personal data from time to time with these service providers. All service partners are contractually bound to protect and keep any personal data they received confidential for the period that they require it for and for the use as instructed by Alimento in the normal course of fulfilling your order or customer service requirements. Our consumer helpline is managed by Sitel (https://www.sitel.com/en-uk) in Bulgaria.
  • Technology Partners - Alimento have a number of approved technology and IT partners that help keep our website and services secure and up to date across areas such as website development and maintenance, hosting, customer experience and email services. All technology partners are contractually bound to protect and keep any personal data they have access to confidential for the period that they require it for and for the use as instructed by Alimento.
  • Payment Service Partners - Alimento uses Shopify, a third party e-commerce platform, to collect and process your credit card information. We may also share your personal data with the following parties:

  • Court orders and other legal requirements. We will disclose your personal data if disclosure is required by law or in the context of an investigation, regulatory requirement, judicial proceeding, court order or legal process served on us or to protect the rights or safety of the website, us or our affiliated companies.  
  • Corporate transaction. In addition, information about our customers, including personal data, may be disclosed as part of any merger, sale, divesture, reorganisation, transfer of assets, acquisition, bankruptcy or similar event.
  • With consent. We also disclose information about you, including personal data, to any other third party where you have consented or requested that we do so.

Your right to access – You have the right to request Alimento for copies of your personal information.

Your right to rectification – You have the right to request that Alimento correct any information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete the information you believe is incomplete.

Your right to erasure – You have the right to request that Alimento erase your personal information in certain circumstances, this is often called the ‘right to be forgotten’.

Your right to restriction of processing – You have the right to request that Alimento restrict the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances.

Your right to object to processing – You have the right to object to Alimento processing your personal information where we are relying on a legitimate interest for using it and we cannot demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the use that override your rights and interests or where we need to process the data for the establishment, exercise or defence of a legal claim.

Your right to data portability – You have the right to request that Alimento transfer the personal information that you gave us to another organisation, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

Lodge a complaint - You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant supervisory authority, the Information Commissioner’s Office (https://www.ico.org.uk), if you consider that the collection and use of your personal data infringes this Privacy Policy or applicable law. We would however appreciate if you first try to address any issues with us directly.
